About the Boondockers Farm~

Boondockers Farm

We are a small organic farm in Creswell, its actually closer to Pleasant hill…but the map says Creswell, anyway… We practice biodynamic methods, water conservation, minimal till methods, pasture rotation, and we create most of our own fertilizer.  We specialize in visually striking and deep flavored rare heirloom tomatoes and unique winter squash, many of which have never been grown in this country before!  We sell their fruit and heirloom seeds from varieties which are well adapted to our climate.

We always anticipate the coming harvest season when we will provide a wide genetic variety of heirloom vegetables, giving our customers exciting choices when they are voting with their fork.  All of our animals are listed as critically endangered by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy and are well deserving of re-popularization.   During this past year we became the very first farm in Oregon to become Animal Welfare Approved, a certification which clearly represents our farms values and standards.  We are now thrilled and grateful to announce that we have received a 2009 Good Husbandry grant from AWA to be put towards our pasture based hatchery for our endangered heritage birds!  We are busy preparing our farm and hatchery for spring and are awaiting the arrival of our coveted 1940s Jamesway 252 Incubator which will greatly enhance our operations. As we look out onto our brilliantly lush pastures, we envision with excitement the abundance of all that will be produced here this year and in the future.  With a beautiful new property, hatchery equipment, and fantastic and much awaited new genetic lines, this years hatching season will be monumental for us!  We will offer hatching eggs, ducklings and chicks, and adolescent breeding stock as well as duck and chicken eggs and meat available.  Using these birds for their dual purpose allows us to be very strict about our breeding standards and our breeding stock comes from only the best representations of either breed.

Our small farm is most certainly expanding, and with your help, our dream of moving these breeds out of their endangered status will be a reality. Consumer demand can make this happen!

We are stewards of the many beings in a diverse ecosystem of balance and keeping the balance in life is vitality important.

We thank you for joining us in supporting a healthy food system!
